business strategies

Are you frustrated with the results you've been getting from your marketing efforts? Do you work far too hard for too little payback? Are you constantly in struggle mode? You may think you don't have enough information, and you may be frantically chasing the next big thing.

Remember Steven Covey's  book "7 Habits of Effective People"? One of my favorites was Habit #7 --  the importance to sharpening your saw.

Suppose you were to come upon someone in the woods working feverishly to saw down a tree.

"What are you doing?" you ask.

Do you wish you knew of an investment that REALLY pays off... BIG?

Are you networking as a strategy to grow your business?  Is your focus on constantly looking for more prospects?  If you're wearing yourself out attending scores of networking events and still have very little to show for it.

It's time to try something else.

A good way to get started is by learning from your mistakes...

One of my favorite sayings is "Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity."  Since it's St. Patrick's Day today, I wish that quote had been by someone Irish, but it's in fact by Seneca, a Roman philosopher who lived in the first century AD.

When you get a referral, you may wonder what you can do to inspire the referral source to refer even more people to you. You'd think it would help if you rewarded them. And to a point that's true. However, getting this one right can be trickier than it seems.

Is your business running you instead of the other way round? Are you feeling overwhelmed by the many aspects of keeping your business going, let alone market it effectively? If so, you're not alone.

Are you networking as a startegy to grow your business?  Is you focus on constantly looking for more prospects?  If you wearing yourself attending scores of networking events and still have very little to show for it.

If you want to leverage your networking time and efforts, stop looking for prospects at networking events and start looking for referral partners.

Pretty simple... right?  But not as easy as it sounds.
